Why Tamil's Dunno Hindi??

Thanks to Robin's Blog and his link to the Hindu article

I came to know a bit more about the "Hindi Edhirpu poorattam" of the sixties.

Not knowing Hindi completely alienates a Tamilian once he steps out of TamilNadu, especially into a cosmopolitan city like Bangalore...His opportunities to socialise are also reduced to a great extent...Hope some realisation regarding this comes at the earliest...

I also accept that "not knowing Hindi" becomes a handicap for a Tamizhan once he moves to other parts of India.. similarly like not knowing Chinese in china, French in France.. Who knows where we will end up in today's global village.. Anyway. 1960's struggle was not against learning Hindi but against Hindi Imposition..

I agree with Robin..One can say u can learn hindi for your own good..But nobody can force me telling "you should learn Hindi"..I think that's what happened then
